The pump coffee machines are an upgrade from the piston type machines. The piston-type machines can heat the stored water to a certain temperature. Usually, the pistons can hold up to four shots. Once the water is heated adequately, it must be pulled through the grind using a lever.

The piston system is believed to be the best method by some, but others beg to differ. According to their argument, the piston type coffee machines don’t offer enough pressure to brew the perfect espresso.

This is where the pump system comes in. The pump coffee machines have two systems, one of which maintains the temperature, and the other maintains the ideal pressure. Furthermore, the water of the pump coffee machine is kept at two different temperatures, steam, and brewing.

As we expected, the brew has a thick crema, which indicates that the grind is extracted perfectly. The brew also offers a beautiful aroma, which is very impressive.

Product Design and Quality:

The De’Longhi EC685m features a compact design and a durable build. Although this product falls in a comparatively cheaper price range, the product doesn’t feel cheap at all. The only problem found in the product while writing the De’Longhi Dedica review was that some users reported that they found problems with the buttons. This is a problem for sure, but it can be fixed easily. Any technician will be able to take care of this circuit board malfunction.

Fortunately, the De’Longhi EC685m coffee machine doesn’t exhibit any problem regarding the mechanical parts. This is a positive factor because any problem regarding the mechanical parts, such as Thermoblock or frother, can be hard and expensive to fix, and they ruin the taste of the coffee.
