9 Best Reusable Water Bottles
We reviewed the best water bottles to keep you hydrated on the go. From insulated to metal, our eco-friendly choices bring you the best buys currently on the market.
The past couple of years have seen a steep rise in reusable water bottles. In 2017, a million plastic bottles were bought worldwide every minute, and with many of these bottles eventually making their way to landfills or the ocean rather than recycling centres, something needed to change (by 2050 there could be more bits of plastic in the ocean than fish). Although recycling is an important part of our everyday lives, there are many complications that come with it, and as little as 20% of bottles actually ger recycled. A radical change was needed, and though it may not seem like much, switching to a reusable water bottle is one simple way to help towards a heathier, greener way of life.
Not only is changing to reusable water bottle a step in the right direction for a better planet, it’s also important to getting enough water to drink. Investing in a water bottle that you can refill constantly throughout the day is a great way of reminding you to drink up (carrying a water bottle means you’re 55% more likely you achieve your daily target of 8 pints). If that hasn’t won you over, think of the saving you’ll make. A one-time purchase may seem pricy, but if you used it every day for a month, you’re saving on 30 buys of water bottles.
So, whether you’re hiking on your weekends off, going to the gym, or sitting at your desk in work, a reusable water bottle is the perfect way to ensure you get enough water, while not using any unnecessary plastic. And good news, reusable water bottles don’t cost an arm and a leg, with great options starting around £10.

The Verdicts
Chilly's stainless steel bottle
Our Verdict
Size: 260ml – 1800ml
Price range: Under £30
Rating: 3/5
Pros: Durable, Lots of different designs, great insulation
Chilily’s has become gold standard for reusable water bottles, partly down to its sleek, simple design, and partly thanks to it being one of the most popular bottles with fitness influencers on social media sites. It also helps that they come in a huge range of sizes and colours, from plain stainless steel, to out-there designs such as giraffes and flamingos. Chilly’s is also one of the few companies where you can accessorize your water bottles too, from different colour lids, to a huge range of carabiners so you can attach it to your bag for easy access. You may think that because of all the gimmicks and add-ons that it might be all hype, but we found them to be incredibly durable. The bottle itself has a textures matte fill to it, which makes it nice and easy to hold, and stops it becoming too hot or cold when touching. Speaking of temperature, Chiliy’s claims that the water inside will stay hot for 12 hours, though we found it had cooled quite a bit by then but was still warm. If you’re looking for a bottle that’s simple and does its job, while at the same time being stylish, then this is the one for you.
Hydro Flask Water Bottle
Our Verdict
Size: 591ml – 1180ml
Price range: £30 – £50
Rating: 4/5
Pros: Double-insulated Tempshild wall vacuum, Lifetime warranty, wide mouth top
Hydro Flasks must be doing something right, as their popularity online is off the charts. The #1 best seller on Amazon throughout all of 2019, this reusable water bottle is the king when it comes to insulation. All variants have its classic wide-mouth lip, and although the stainless-steel design is nothing to write home about, if you’re looking for something that doesn’t stand out then it’s perfect. The texture of the bottle is matte, just like chilly’s, so the exterior never felt hot to touch, even when filled with boiling water, making it safer for screwing the lid on when you’re on the move. Hydro flasks give you the option of several different colours, sizes, and a normal lid or nozzle. The wide-mouth design means you can fit ice cubes in for extra cold drinks during the summer (and is also helpful for cleaning too). Obviously, the main selling point is the double-insulated wall vacuum, which keeps liquids cold for 24 hours and hot for 12. If you’re looking for a reusable water bottle that has the functionality of a thermos flask then you may have found the perfect bottle.
Takeya Actives
Our Verdict
Size: 18oz – 64oz
Price range: £30 – £50
Rating: 5/5
Pros: Double-insulated wall vacuum, Sweat-free, 18/8 grade stainless steal
Here at LastVerdict we have someone who swears by this bottle! From gym use, to travelling to the office, I don’t think there’s a time since we started testing reusable bottles that we haven’t seen this one in her hand. And while it suits a range of needs and locations, where it comes into its own is at the gym (and although it does hold hot drinks, we doubt you’ll need blazing-hot beverages when working out). The Takeya range can keep drinks cold for up to 24 hours, which is perfect if you’re off to work for 8 hours before your gym session. The bottle, like others, comes in a wide range of colours and sizes (even a kid friendly version), and the outer layer is power coated, which provides more durability and makes it easier to grip during those tough work-out sessions. Takeya claim that their lid is ‘the best lid ever’, and it’s easy to see why. Completely insulated, with a universal wide mouth which fits all their bottles, is leak-proof and hinged-locked, so never once became loose. The plastic carry ring is a nice touch that pushes it ahead of its rivals for us. Overall, it’s a flawless water bottle for workouts.
Klean Kanteen Classic
Our Verdict
Size: 12oz – 64oz
Price range: Under £30
Rating: 5/5
Pros: Lightweight, Dishwasher safe, easy to open silicone cap
If you’re looking a classic, lightweight stainless-steel water bottle then this is the one for you. Reasonably priced, it comes in a range of sizes and colours, and after having it in our hands and testing it for over a month we came to the realisation that is reusable bottle has many hidden qualities, and well worth the slightly high price-tag. Built to last, the bottle is made from the same 18/8 stainless steel as the Takeya design, which means there’s no metallic smell when opening it for the first time. It also means that if you’re into flavouring your water it doesn’t leave lingering tastes or smells when changing over drinks. The bottle is lightweight compared to other metal designs, and the non-slip finish is chip-resistant matte that is easy to hold. It also doesn’t hold condensation on the outside, so you can leave it in the fridge overnight and it’ll come out dry. A great little bottle for when you’re on the go, and fits inside handbags and rucksacks with ease.
BRITA Fill and Go Vital Water Filter Bottle
Our Verdict
Size: 600ml
Price range: Under £10
Rating: 3/5
Pros: BPA free, Dishwasher friendly, great price
A tough, BOA-free plastic that feels well-made and long-lasting, plus with the added bonus of having the BRITA name attached to it? Pretty good so far. Perfect for packing into your gym bag or for a long trip on the road, the BRITA’s hard body bottle is very affordable and with the classic BRITA filter removes the taste of chlorine, improving on the odour and taste of water. And with said filter built into the cap, you don’t have to wait for it to work its magic – it does it while you drink. The filters come in a pack of 3, and usually last a month at a time, so remember to change them otherwise you may as well buy a non-filtered bottle. It’s lightweight (even when full) and dishwasher safe too. It comes in fewer colours than most of the other brands on our list, but that’s understandable considering it’s mostly transparent. If you’re looking for an adorable filter bottle that doesn’t break your bank account, then look no further.
S'well Unisex's Stainless Steel Water Bottle
Our Verdict
Size: 260ml – 750ml
Price range: £30 – £50
Rating: 4/5
Pros: Triple-walled, condensation-free stainless steel, Stainless-steal
The S’well is made from triple-walled, condensation-free stainless steel that gives it a premium finish that makes it stand out from other brands. Chances are if you’ve probably seen someone with a stainless-steel reusable bottle then it’s this one. Coming in a range of colours and sizes, it can suit many of the user’s needs, from gym workouts, to long walks. They keep your drink hot or cold for 12 hours and they’re well known for their screw on lid having a helpful ridging that gives you traction for tightening and loosening its seal, something, surprisingly a lot of designs of other brands don’t have. Its core consists of food-grade stainless steel and it arrived without a chemical smell on opening, which is a great start when buying a bottle! Add to the fact that it’s lightweight and it’s easy to see why so many people continuously buy this bottle.
Joseph Joseph Dot
Our Verdict
Size: 400ml – 600ml
Price range: Under £10
Rating: 3/5
Pros: Great value, built in tracking system, impact-resistant
You might be tempted by this reusable water bottle if you don’t want to spend big. It’s made from an impact-resistant material that means it should survive some knocks and bumps in the kitchen. Dot water bottle features a clever counting lid that tracks how much water you drink, so you can be on top of your hydration goals throughout the day. Each time you close the lid after filling, a new dot appears in the display window, allowing you to track up to 4 bottles per day. It’s a nice little touch from the people at Joseph Joseph, and one that keeps them a step ahead of the other value bottles. A sleek, simple design matched with a choice of several primary colours and a good size and shape; this bottle is amazing value considering it’s in the under £10 range.
BKR Glass Bottle
Our Verdict
Size: 250ml – 1Lt
Price range: Under £30
Rating: 5/5
Pros: Beautiful design, silicone sleeve, small mouth opening
Easily one of the trendiest and most beautifully designed reusable bottles we tested here at LastVerdict, this bottle has the added bonus of not just rehydrating you but working as a cute accessory too. Inspired by all things glowing and glamorous and by the belief that the objects in your life should be loved, BKRs glass water bottles breathe new life into the busy world of reusable water bottles. Those uncertain of picking a glass bottle shouldn’t worry – the removeable silicone cover is relatively shock proof and protects the glass, which itself is sturdy and robust. The silicone cover comes in several colours and styles, with our personal favourite being the pastel pink spike design (not only for its look, but how it feels when gripping it in your hand). Glass bottles of course have the added benefit of not producing the plastic or metallic tastes that you can get with other bottles. Vegan friendly, cruelty free, and good for the environment? BKR have a real winner.
BLACK+BLUM Eau Good Water Bottle
Our Verdict
Size: 800ml
Price range: Under £20
Rating: 4/5
Pros: Long-lasting filter, Large capacity, great design
The Eau Good bottle is an easy-grip, dual-purpose plastic water bottle made of Tritan from Eastman that has both charcoal purification and infusion capabilities. It sounds complicated but don’t worry, it’s pretty simple. The natural filter that accompanies the bottle is traditional Japanese Binchotan charcoal. Basically put, it’s a stick inside a reusable bottle. It purifies water by removing chemicals, while adding in minerals including calcium, iron and magnesium. The result is a noticeably cleaner-tasting drink. You simply pop the charcoal into the empty bottle, tilt, then squeeze. The filter becomes locked in place once you ungrasp the bottle, and it doesn’t splinter or flake over time. Each charcoal stick filter lasts for up to six months and if you want to reactivate it’s purifying capabilities just boiling it for 10 minutes at the three-month mark, so it’s a pretty cost-effective investment. It can also be used just like any other water bottle. The design also sets it apart from the crowd, being at the same time innovative yet simple. For a bottle that does so much, it also doesn’t overwhelm you with bits and bobs.

What type of water bottle is best? BUYERS GUIDE
Before you choose a water bottle, it’s important to think about what you’ll be using it for, and what type best suits your needs. Are you someone who works from home, and doesn’t care for a lightweight type that’s easy to carry? Or maybe you’re a gym-goer, and need a water bottle that isn’t too fiddly to drink from, and can survive being dropped constantly? Here at LastVerdict, we’ve tested dozens of water bottles, and picked what we think are the 9 best currently on the market. From insulating bottles, to modern glass designs – these bottles cover a range of uses and styles to suit your needs.
Which water bottle material is best?
When it comes to picking a water bottle, there are a few different types to choose from;
Stainless steel: The classic type your parents probably had growing up. Usually insulated, these are ideal for keeping drinks cold, or hot for long periods of a time. Being made of metal, they’re obviously more durable than the other bottles, so they’re less likely to break if you drop them, or wear down from use
Glass: Not the most common of bottles, but they’re popular for a few reasons. They tend to always have a stylish, interesting look, and they don’t give your water that weird plastic or metallic taste that you sometimes get with other styles of bottles. Of course, it’s always helpful to see how much liquid you have left too
Plastic: You may wonder why you would buy a bottle that’s made of plastic. Isn’t that bad for the environment? When looking for plastic bottles you want to buy ones labelled BPA-free (all the plastic ones in this list are) – BPA types breakdown over time and will leak chemicals into your drink. Plastic water bottles tend to not be too heavy and are reactively durable too.
